O documentário ‘A família Giffoni no Seridó potiguar’, roteirizado e editado por Astrogildo Cruz, traz a curiosa história da família Giffoni na região, mais acentuadamente na cidade de Florânia.
A história dessa família estava esquecida no tempo, entre outros motivos, em virtude da influência negativa que a participação da Itália fascista na Segunda Guerra Mundial, ao lado da Alemanha nazista, teve sobre as famílias italianas residentes no Brasil.
Essa influência chegou ao ponto de as famílias, como é o caso dos Giffoni, se absterem de colocar o sobrenome Giffoni em seus descendentes.
A pesquisa de Astrogildo trouxe à luz essa história, ressaltando as marcas importantes que a família Giffoni deixou, especialmente em Florânia, na arquitetura, no comércio, na política, nas artes e na cultura.
