O Solar Bela Vista será palco do lançamento do projeto ‘Redescobrindo Natal – Um novo olhar para a cidade’. Será nesta quinta feira, 19 de setembro, as 8h30 da manhã. A história da cidade estampada através do design de superfície.
REDESCOBRINDO NATAL
O projeto Redescobrindo Natal é resultado da investigação da designer Jessyca Mendes sobre a identidade da cidade. A artista visual realizou um estudo sobre quais são as representações identitárias da cidade e qual a percepção do natalense sobre sua própria história. “Capital espacial do País”, “O ar mais puro das américas” e “A cidade do Sol” estão na linha do tempo da matriz de representação identitária da cidade.
A pesquisa de campo que integra esse estudo e entrevistou 175 pessoas constatou que: 72% veem praia, sol, dunas e areia como a primeira imagem ao pensar no município; para 97% a palavra “praia” representa a cidade; 20% dos entrevistados disseram não conhecer a história da cidade, 57,1% relataram conhecer apenas partes e apenas 22,9% declararam ter conhecimento da história da cidade.
E onde está a memória e lembrança afetiva dos muitos prédios, ruas e lugares que possuem história e que fazem parte da memória coletiva da cidade? Sob essa inquietação nasceu o projeto Redescobrindo Natal.
“A ideia do projeto veio diante da observação da recorrente associação da cidade do Natal ao binômio sol-mar. O apelo em associar o município como o paraíso do prazer e do lazer, a falta de conhecimento da história local, assim como a desvalorização dos aspectos arquitetônicos e culturais, são a base motivacional para a elaboração deste projeto”, apresenta Jessyca Mendes.
LANÇAMENTO
Para o lançamento do projeto Jessyca Mendes apresenta três obras: o canto do Mangue: simbolizando as atividades econômicas exercidas na capital, o lugar onde as águas do Rio Potengi se juntam ao Oceano Atlântico; a Praça André de Albuquerque: marco zero e testemunha da fundação da cidade em 25 de dezembro de 1599; e o Instituto Câmara Cascudo: patrimônio histórico da cidade e abrigo das criações e pesquisas de um dos mais importantes moradores da cidade: Luis da Câmara Cascudo.
Essas obras serão aplicadas ao design de superfície como uma ferramenta para inspirar um novo olhar para a cidade. A história de Natal redescoberta através das mais diversas superfícies: quadros, almofadas, capas de celulares, uma forma de visitar o lugar sem precisar estar nele, além da possibilidade de apresentar o lugar sem precisar levar a pessoa até lá. Uma forma de explorar a relação dos objetos, as imagens, a história e a cultura de Natal.
Na próxima quinta feira acontece o lançamento oficial do projeto, realizado em parceria com a Secretaria Municipal de Turismo e a Mapa Realizações Culturais. O ambiente do Solar Bela Vista vai receber uma instalação da Quintal e tem como público alvo o trade turístico, imprensa, gestores de cultura, lojas de artesanato, historiadores e arquitetos.
