Coluna Okê Umbanda! #02
Desde sua revelação neste plano em 15 de novembro de 1908, a Umbanda ganhou novos adeptos, assim como diversas religiões, cresceu e se diversificou desdobrando em muitas vertentes. Porém, mantendo a mesma essência em seu alicerce como tão bem falou o Sr. Caboclo das Sete Encruzilhadas no seu anúncio:
“A Umbanda é a manifestação dos espíritos, para a prática da caridade. Somando isso aos seus mais dois fundamentos, amor incondicional e respeito ao livre arbítrio, está tudo certo, é Umbanda.”

O processo de desdobramento de uma religião em vertentes é tão antigo quanto a humanidade. Comumente esse fenômeno acontece devido a vários fatores como: a busca do homem por adaptação religiosa, influência de religiões anteriores e até mesmo um movimento natural da própria religião agregando práticas religiosas de outras, assumindo assim uma característica sincrética comum a todas.
Vale salientar que as vertentes da Umbanda aqui apresentadas não representam um consenso entre os próprios umbandistas e sim uma compilação de meus estudos e pesquisa acerca desse fenômeno. Segue as principais vertentes por mim pesquisadas e que aparecem com maior frequência nas práticas da nossa sagrada Umbanda.
Umbanda Branca (tradicional)
É a vertente fundamentada pelo Caboclo das Sete Encruzilhadas, Pai Antônio e Orixá Malê, através do médium Zélio Fernandino de Morais (1891 – 1975). É considerada a primeira e mais tradicional Umbanda, pois através dela, a religião começou a ser fundamentada com a criação da Tenda Espírita Nossa Senhora da Piedade em São Gonçalo/RJ (16/11/1908).
Umbanda de mesa branca (Umbanda Kardecista)
Essa vertente tem uma forte influência do Espiritismo (Kardecismo) e é praticada em centros espíritas que passaram a desenvolver giras de Umbanda junto com as tradicionais sessões Espíritas.
Umbanda Mirim
É fundamentada pelo Caboclo Mirim com o seu médium Benjamin Figueiredo (26/12/1902 – 03/12/1986), surgida em 1924 com a fundação da Tenda Espírita Mirim, no Rio de Janeiro e responsável pela criação do Primado de Umbanda em 1952.
Umbanda Popular (cruzada)
É uma das mais antigas vertentes, resultado do processo de transformação em Umbanda (umbandização) de antigas casas de Macumba dos morros cariocas. Como o próprio nome já diz, é uma das formas mais abertas a novidades e praticadas no Brasil, pois é possível adotar práticas místico / religiosas que mais convêm associando a duas ou mais religiões.
Umbanda Omolocô (traçada)
Essa vertente vem com o processo de “umbandização” das casas de Omolocô e começou a ser fundamentada em 1950 no Rio de Janeiro pelo médium Tancredo da Silva Pinto, Tátá Tancredo (10/08/1904 – 01/09/1979).
Umbanda Almas e Angola (traçada)
É também o resultado de transformação (umbandização) de antigas casas de Almas e Angola. Existe um forte sincretismo entre os Orixás e os santos católicos vinculados às tradições africanas, principalmente as do Almas e Angolas.
Umbandomblé (traçada)
Casas de Candomblé que se identificaram com o movimento da Umbanda, mais especificamente Candomblé de Caboclo, começaram a adotar em suas práticas, também as giras de Umbanda alternando com o culto do Candomblé em sessões diferentes (dias e horários).
Por aqui encerramos essa primeira parte, esperando ter contribuído acerca desse fantástico universo de várias “bandas” em uma única banda. No próximo texto daremos prosseguimento a outras vertentes da nossa Umbanda.
